Blue and Gold Elizabethan Gown

This is a Ren faire gown I made two years ago. I am quite impressed with the way it turned out – my mom was REALLY impressed with the way it turned out since I had never taken any sewing lessons (well, that isn’t really true, I took Home Economics in 8th grade and I had to make a pillow) and this was my first big project. I still don’t understand half of the directions on any pattern, and end up tossing them about halfway into any project!

True to every faire I have been in from 2002 to 2009 I only wore this dress one year, but I still really like it. Here is a picture of the young lady who wore it this year in her role as one of my daughters. [link] I think She looks WAY better in it than I did anyway!

Maybe by posting some of my past projects I will stop slacking and get busy on the new things I have on my list!

Edit -- Since some have asked, I used Simplicity 3782 for a pattern and made some modifications (the sleeves were way too long, for starters)
